I love to weave! I create exquisite handwoven silk and wool scarves and I design and produce The Howgill Range, an exclusive collection of luxurious wool throws and scarves woven from organically processed pure British wool.

The Howgill Range epresents a new venture into weaving for Laura's Loom. It is an exclusive brand of luxuriously soft wool throws and scarves woven from British wool which I source directly from small family-run hill farms in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands. The wool is organically scoured and spun in Yorkshire and woven at small mills in Cumbria and the Scottish Borders. Designed for pure comfort and modern living, The Howgill Range is beautiful, completely natural and entirely British!

Howgill Classic Throws are woven from the soft fine fibres of Bluefaced Leicester fleece and are now available in four gorgeous colours: Classic Cream; Madder Red; Moss Green and Carbon Black.

The Hebridean Collection is a new and very chic blanket collection woven from a specially commissioned eco-blend of Hebridean, Black Welsh, Moorit and Shetland wools. Available in five natural colours this is tradition at its very best.

I live and work in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. I derive huge inspiration from this spectacular ever-changing yet never-changing landscape of stonewalled dales, wild fells and hidden streams. Indeed, the stonewalls are the major inspiration behind my highly one-off textured throws. When I tire of throwing the shuttle 40 times to produce an inch of fine silk fabric I turn to thick and chunky for a rest! My throws are created from mill ends, whatever I happen to have on my yarn shelves. They're a great way to use up odds and ends to create a stunning work of art. At least one of my throws adorns a wall rather than a sofa!

In addition to weaving myself I also teach weaving classes at Farfield Mill Arts and Heritage Centre, situated in Sedbergh. Passing along a my love of this craft is a very satisfying and rewarding task.
